We are commanded to share the gospel
Many people freeze when sharing their faith.
They worry about saying the wrong thing.
Or worse, messing up.
Yet, as Dr. D. James Kennedy suggested in 1970, there is a simple way to do this.
Want to share the gospel? Here’s your cheat sheet.
The Gospel
The presentation is as follows:
Opening Questions: “May I ask you two important spiritual questions?”
The Heaven Question: “Have you come to the place in your spiritual life where you know for certain that if you were to die today, you would go to heaven?”
The Why Question: “Suppose you were to die today and stand before God, and He were to ask you, ‘Why should I let you into heaven?’ What would you say?”
Listen carefully to their response, then transition...
“May I share with you what the Bible says about this?”
THE GOSPEL PRESENTATION:
First, God offers GRACE, and Salvation is His gift. Ephesians 2:8- 9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Why do we need this gift? Because all MEN are sinful. Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
GOD is both just and merciful. Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
This is why JESUS came. Romans 5:8: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Our response is FAITH, John 1:12: “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
And REPENTENCE. Acts 3:19: “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.”
Transition to Response: “Based on what we’ve discussed, would you like to receive this gift of salvation right now?”
If yes, guide them in prayer.
Rather than a scripted prayer of salvation. Lead them as follows:
Acknowledge that they, like everyone else, are sinful
Recognize Christ's death and resurrection
Repent from their sinful past
Trust completely in Christ alone for salvation
Commit to follow Him as Lord
If not, thank them for listening and leave the door open. “Thank you for letting me share this with you. Please feel free to ask me any questions about what we discussed.”
Remember:
If appropriate, share your conversion story - I was lost, and here’s how I accepted Christ’s gift of salvation.
Speak with gentleness and respect.
Listen more than you speak.
Be patient with their response.
Pray before, during, and after.
The biblical truths behind the above presentation
We are commanded to share the gospel according to Matthew 28:18-20: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Most people will be unsure of the answer to the first question and feel that their good deeds outweigh their evil deeds in response to the second question. Of course, this is works, not grace.
Salvation is a sovereign miracle of God, who uses the Bible to convey the power of salvation according to Romans 10:17: “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
Your goal is not to convince them but to plant a seed. Paul confirms this in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7: “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.”
You would be surprised how many, even religious people, have never heard the gospel.
Sharing the gospel is often done through your actions, not just your words.
The whole world of unbelievers is your mission field, even those whom you think will never be saved.
Conclusion
Remember, the power lies not in our words but in His Word. We are called to be faithful messengers of this life-changing truth. Be courageous; He who commands us to go also promises, “Behold, I am with you always” (Matthew 28:18-20.)

PSS…I have recently developed a Ghostwriting professional service that develops LinkedIn site content for Christian investment advisors and managers. Essentially, I ghostwrite LinkedIn content to bridge financial expertise with kingdom impact. Most of these posts will appear on the Substack website, and I will leave it to you if you want to subscribe and receive them automatically. Although this subsection combines my professional experience as a CPA, CFP, and investment manager with my biblical knowledge and interests, I realize many will only be interested in the original Substack - The Inevitable Truth. And that is perfectly fine. If you know of professionals who might be interested in this service, I ask that you refer them to this site. I also leave my professional LinkedIn profile for your review if interested.
Thank you,

That method of the Gospel used to be very effective, but we now live in a post-christian world. When you say God, they may not know which God. When you say sin, they may not know what sin is or why the God of the Bible has a right to define right or wrong. (Hint: He is creator). Many Americans no longer have the foundation.
Paul preached differently to the Jews than he did to the Greeks. The Jews had the foundation, so he only needed to share the basic gospel. The Greeks had no background, so he had to build the foundation before preceding to the gospel. More often than not, especially with younger people, we have to define the foundational principles before most of those verses make sense to people.
Great summary on how to share Christ!
